These are a few of my favourite things!

Highland fling

I have just returned from a trip to the very top of Scotland – way up near John O’ Groats! It was a fair old journey up there but boy was it worth it. Stunning deserted beaches, fantastic scenery and a lovely little cottage to come home to after a long day of exploring!

We stayed at the gorgeous Flagstone Cottage in Castletown, located between Thurso and John O’Groats. The cottage has recently been restored by the Prince’s Regeneration Trust and is a real treat.

The cottage is brimming with beautiful Welsh textiles, Scottish tartan in muted tones, lovely painted wood panelling and stunning fireplaces, fixtures and fittings.

I loved the soothing grey wooden panelling, which provided a wonderful backdrop for these Wally Dogs!

Even the light switches have been carefully restored – I want these for my flat!

The Scots’ bed was such a romantic feature, complete with curtains, cosy throws and a wooden footstool to help you hop in.

Just down the road is Dunnet Head beach, which is beautiful and a but further on is Castle of Mey and John O’Groats. If you head west, you can drive along the winding road right along the top of Scotland – the scenery is truly breathtaking.

This cottage looks amazing! Such a cosy place to stay and I love the ‘wally dugs!’
